Trump and the judge

The barrage of criticism pertaining to Donald Trump’s rants against Hispanic and Muslim judges misses the larger issue that is at the core of our democracy. Egregious as the insults to specific individuals are, the greater insult is to our Constitution.

We are taught as school children about the three branches of government — executive, legislative, and judicial — and how they counterbalance one another. Trump is effectively ignoring one branch of the triad and in so doing thumbing his nose at our entire system of government. The thought of him as president and the constitutional crises that might well arise simply boggle the mind.
