A veteran’s salute
A grateful Congress has extended a special privilege to all 20,000,000 American veterans — the right to render their military hand salute at the flag and National Anthem ceremony of every graduation, football and basketball game, and other public events.
Beginning this Memorial Day, veterans can stand tall and render their military salute as they did when they wore the nation’s uniform. They should do it for all of those vets who are no longer with us, for all those serving our nation today and for our future vets. Their salute is an act of patriotism that will enrich our national flag traditions for generations to come.
