Lousy public pools

My husband and I frequently use of Miami’s public pools. You would think that Miami would be a world leader in having good facilities and adequate pool maintenance. However, this is not the case. The pools are an embarrassment.

At Jose Marti Pool, the men’s bathroom has been closed since the truck accident in February, and it appears as if nothing is happening to make this bathroom operational. Both bathrooms need painting and refurbishing. The water temperature control for the pool doesn’t work, and the water is too warm.

We also use the pool at Hadley Park, and the bathrooms there are disgusting. The staff does a good job in keeping a rundown facility clean, but it desperately needs painting and refurbishing.

The Virrick Park pool is closed most of the time, which seems absurd in Miami where people swim year round. And the bathrooms at Hobie Beach and Virginia Key are also rundown.

It appears that Miami likes to build new facilities, but doesn’t maintain them. They should not be allowed to deteriorate.
