Traffic snarled

As a daily commuter on I-95 in Broward, the starting point of the new express lanes is a disaster. If the intent was to move commuters to U.S. 1, 441 and the turnpike, FDOT has succeeded. The decision to begin the southbound express lanes after the 595 exit has created daily traffic jams that benefit no one, even the express lane drivers.

The reduction to four lanes past the 595 exit and the hill over the New River bridge — combined with the plastic poles — have snarled traffic every afternoon. Until the next phase of the 95 Express lanes begins, simply starting the plastic poles after the lane reduction on the down slope of the bridge where the poles end northbound would surely make the traffic flow much smoother.
