Letters to the Editor

Pachyderm heaven

How do we know elder elephants truly want quietude and the deep countryside with aging mates going on with all those memories they’ll never forget, as letter writer Kate Dylewsky declares (Elephant retirement, April 24)?

After a lifetime in show business, Cita and Lisa might be troupers with a love for the limelight and a big-hearted yearning for the crowds’ delight. Cita might harbor a lifelong dream of being a photographers’ model; Lisa, an inclination to be an abstract expressionist painter.

Retirement isn’t one size fits all. Life is an adventure or nothing much to trumpet about.
