No height variance

Miami Beach city commissioners believe they know better than the people who elected them.

In the last two elections, Miami Beach voters have rejected plans by developers to build large, out-of-scale towers in the surrounding neighborhoods (the Convention Center Hotel and the outsized tower on Ocean Terrace).

Commissioners are now looking to pass an ordinance to allow a height variance for the Ocean Terrace Tower to be built, after all.

And our mayor is leading an effort to “repackage” the Convention Center hotel idea.

Enough already!

City commissioners should get in tune with Miami Beach voters.
