I just read the April 24 article Opa-locka — city for sale and chuckled at the quote of former Vice Mayor Steven Barrett: “I didn’t know it was this bad; this city is run like the mob.”
Had he been a regular reader of the Herald as have I for the past 40-something years, he would have recalled headlines such as this one. In Opa-locka they are more than common as citizens here have seen their fair share of corrupt, selfish, greedy lawmakers both on the city and county level. It’s pretty clear to me that it is always going to be that way.
