Firing of JMH doc over Uber fight
Re the April 23 article, Miami doctor in viral Uber video loses Jackson gig: The recent episode involving Anjali Ramkisoon, a fourth-year neurology resident at Jackson Memorial hospital, is undoubtedly a case of unacceptable behavior.
Although certainly not justification, the tantrum that which caused her to be fired from her job at the hospital apparently followed a series of major setbacks in her life, which may have contributed to that momentary mistake. She now appears contrite and apologized for her actions.
Having been a resident doctor at Jackson Memorial myself, I know the hard work, long hours and dedication it takes to complete a four-year residency after an equally challenging four years in medical school. Ramkisoon certainly should be reprimanded.
However, I believe the hospital’s response in firing her is equally an overreaction. I hope that, on appeal, unless there is another reason for the firing, that the board would reconsider.
