Autism program works

April marks Autism Awareness Month, when we honor and reflect on the precious angels in our lives.

My son, Noah, like many children on the spectrum, is intelligent and creative, but profoundly misunderstood. As a single parent, I was desperate to find an affordable social environment in which he could thrive, and Arts for Learning’s Youth Arts in the Park program was the perfect fit.

Now Noah lives for those Saturday mornings where he can interact and create with other kids; he’s more confident and social than ever.

I also have the opportunity to share stories with other parents and receive priceless support from other caretakers who understand what it takes to move special needs children forward to adulthood.

This program is heaven-sent, and I urge our community to support arts programs that help ensure inclusion and support for children with special needs.
