Let Bal Harbour Shops expand
How unfortunate that Bal Harbour Village Mayor Martin Packer and Assistant Mayor Patricia Cohen did a disservice to the community by not allowing residents to vote on the shops’ planned enhancements and creation of a new Village Hall.
Our community will miss out on the many benefits that were offered by the shops as part of their proposal that totaled more than $127 million.
Now that we know that the shops will submit a revised plan, I hope the mayor and assistant mayor will stop standing in the way of the most important project that Bal Harbour has seen in decades. Residents have already lost out on significant public benefits. We should not risk losing a 50-year landmark that has brought prestige and significant tax revenue to the village.
