Gamble, minus dogs
Re the April 21 article Rising tide of concern for welfare of animals: Wayne Pacelle mentions greyhound racing and the state requirement that mandates racetracks to conduct live racing in order to have other forms of gambling.
For several years, GREY2K USA has supported a proposal introduced in the state Legislature to decouple greyhound racing from other forms of gambling. This proposal is also supported by racetracks owners, who are losing money on dog racing, but are forced to hold races in order to offer other profitable forms of gambling. Greyhound decoupling is a common-sense measure that should become law.
