Re the April 17 story Outgoing CEO of state-funded agency still enjoys travel, perks: Those who have known Bill Johnson and worked with him laud his consistently excellent performance in his 30 years with the county. In better days, many of the best and brightest went to work in the public sector. Now, with efforts like State Sen. Nancy Detert and those of her ilk, he is just a “guy from the bureaucracy and not someone from the business world.”
In my years as a Dade County assistant court administrator in charge of court facilities and planning and later, working in construction oversight for the county Inspector General’s Office, I saw Bill in action. He deserves kudos, not brickbats.
