Give Lyft a lift

After many years in the restaurant business, I was tired of the long hours and wanted the freedom to set my own schedule. I decided to drive for Lyft, and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made.

After a thorough application process and background check, Lyft paired me with a mentor who showed me the ropes. I was immediately impressed by the safe and convenient experience the ridesharing service provides for passengers, drivers and the public.

It’s been almost two years now, and thanks to Lyft I’m able to spend more time with my kids because I work when I want to work. Now I’ve grown to become a mentor for newer Lyft drivers, and I get a tremendous sense of satisfaction helping them achieve their dreams and make some extra income like I did.

The Miami-Dade County Commission soon will consider an ordinance related to ridesharing. I urge commissioners to preserve services like Lyft and Uber as options for people to use.

If this safe and reliable method of transportation is pushed out of Miami-Dade County, the community, in addition to hundreds of ridesharing drivers and their families, would suffer tremendously.
