Michael Putney’s take

Michael Putney's condemnation on Gov. Rick Scott's response to Cara Jenning's unhinged tirade in his April 13 column, Gov. Scott scores a zero on the empathy meter, is off base.

Putney postulates that governors of yore would have simply walked over and pacified the lunacies of this self described “radical anarchist,” who refused to recite the pledge of allegiance, over a cup of coffee. He did what the only adult in the room would do when confronted with a child who is having a tantrum; walk away until she comes to her senses.

We live in a civil society where common manners and unwritten rules apply to expected forms of public behavior. To accept this deplorable display of rudeness and blame the governor for not assessing and addressing this individual's personal demons is not the job of the governor of Florida, its the job of a psychiatrist, and she should seek help.
