Cuba will change

Patricia Mazzei’s April 3 article on her trip to Cuba during the presidential visit, What Cubans don’t know, and don’t know they don’t know, was revealing about the American tourist’s perception of Cuba.

When asked by the reporter the reason for taking that trip, a tourist replied that he made it now because of a desire to see Cuba before it changed. Cuba’s current condition is a tremendous change from what American tourists experienced of 58 years ago. Those visitors were amazed by the culture, fashion and behavior of Cuban citizens, in addition to the variety of restaurants, museums and theaters that were showing movies from Hollywood.

Yes, today’s tourists are right. They had better hurry, because if the Cubans on that island have freedom, then Cuba will change for the better.
