Trump’s answer
I’m not a fan of Donald Trump, but I am a defender of the truth. The April 6 letter Women’s health insinuates that Trump advocates punishing a mother for killing her unborn child.
Trump, in answering a hypothetical question, “If abortion is ever declared illegal, should the mother be held responsible,” stated that she should be partially responsible, but that the current law allowing abortion is settled law.
The letter inaccurately claims that federal money doesn’t pay for abortions. The Hyde Amendment allows taxpayer funding of abortion in cases of rape, incest and to save the life of the mother under Medicaid.
