Religious similarity
While reading Moshe Schulman’s April 5 opinion piece, When I left ultra-Orthodox Jewish fold, I wasn’t expecting to find Donald Trump, I was struck by the similarity of his description of his ultra-orthodox Jewish upbringing with another ultra-orthodox religion much in the news.
Religious extremism, whether Jewish, Christian, Mormon or Islamic, seems to have so much in common: fear fostering, social isolationism, strict adherence to rules and rites, limited education.
No matter what other names are attached to religious extremism, it is the real terrorist we face globally today.
