Women’s health

Women are up in arms about Donald Trump’s comments about punishing women. But why is no one speaking out about Gov. Rick Scott and the Legislature punishing women by cutting off their access to family planning and healthcare services in a bill, which the governor signed into law last week?

The alternatives offered by conservative legislators for receiving family-planning services, including birth control, Pap smears and other reproductive services, include dozens of elementary and middle schools, several dental practices and at least one optometry center.

Why is there not an outcry from women about this? Abortion services have not been covered by any government funding since the Hyde Amendment in 1976. It’s just women’s healthcare that gets punished. Forget Trump’s statement, women should be crying out about this in Florida.
