Neglected campus

After reading the March 29 article Competition to build MDC museum tightens, I have to ask, Who doesn’t love Ayn Rand and the virtue of artistic self interest?

Given the grandiose visions for Miami Dade College and, to be sure, all of downtown Miami, we would have to love her even more if we toured the halls and classrooms of MDC campuses to see neglected maintenance and year-long broken elevators that deny wheelchair faculty access to their offices.

The bane of all visionaries is, of course, that both eyes are always toward the profitable future rather than the unprofitable present.

Roy Nickerson,

Miami
