Several politicians, including the Mayor Tomás Regalado of Miami, oppose opening a Cuban consulate in the city for fear of provoking protests that could put people’s safety at risk.
Why don’t these politicians use the same efforts in cleaning the city’s streets and parks that they care about so much and also help to provide housing for hundreds of homeless people living in the streets? Perhaps these politicians actually want to protect themselves from the shame that Cuban representatives might see a city that is deteriorating in front of our eyes.
