Libraries excel

For residents of Miami-Dade, your library card is the best deal going. In addition to checking out books, you can access free e-books, audiobooks, movies, magazines and music — all online.

Since these services can also be used via apps on your cellphone, enjoy audiobooks during your daily commute. High school students can take free SAT courses online through the library databases.

Students of all ages can benefit from Tutor.com, a free service that provides live online tutoring. Try learning a language, taking a photography course or finding scholarly information on any topic — all online.

Many branches also offer book clubs, interviewing workshops and classes in yoga, meditation, chess, arts and crafts, technology and more.

I commend the Miami-Dade Public Library System, under the direction of Gia Arbogast, for meeting the needs of its users in innovative ways and for promoting education and culture in our city. Visit www.mdpls.org or any library branch, and take advantage of the power of your library card.
