On behalf of MACtown, Inc. and those we serve, we extend our appreciation to Florida Senate President Andy Gardiner and House Speaker Steve Crisafulli.
Because of their leadership people with unique abilities will have greater opportunity to be valued members of their communities.
Gardiner and Crisafulli, along with Senate Appropriations Chair Tom Lee and House Appropriations Chair Richard Corcoran and Health Care Appropriation Chairs Sen. Rene Garcia and Rep. Matt Hudson, took a fiscally responsible stance to protect the state’s most vulnerable people with intellectual disabilities.
While all the legislators supported this action, we must recognize a few of the local legislators who were instrumental in this process, in particular Sens. Eleanor Sobel, Maria Sachs, and Denise Grimsley and Reps. Jose Oliva, Jose Felix Diaz and Daphne Campbell.
The people we serve are grateful that the state Legislature is providing strong leadership and protecting Floridians of all abilities.
We are confident that Gov. Rick Scott will do the same when he signs the budget.
