Your wonderful March 6 article, Ruth Shack and the art of life, brought back a flood of memories of her service as a commissioner.
Labor leaders had her on a pedestal; their respect, appreciation and downright affection not easy to come by. Her unfailing support of the women's movement, badly needed at that time, could absolutely be depended upon. She was always a participant, not just filling her seat on the dais, and as so well stated in your article, her service had no limits.
Ruth Shack was, is and always will be the best of the best.
