Kids today need to be educated on the seriousness and the consequences of what they do.
Tours of the jails and the misery and horror of serving time would wake them up to doing the right thing and going to school or getting a job instead of joining a gang or resorting to crime.
Years ago, students had field trips to jails to see first hand the gruesome life that awaits every criminal. It was eye-opening and it is still needed today.
These trips, or even films showing prison life, would deter many a teen from crime. Parents have to work on keeping their kids home after school, too.
