Boat Show’s impact

Re Key Biscayne Mayor Mayra Pena Lindsay’s Feb. 21 Open Mic column, Boat show impact feels like a hangover: I have been attending, or participating in the boat show since 1953. Not since leaving its Dinner Key venue have I heard such overwhelming positive commentary.

The half-truths and innuendo from Key Biscayne officials lead the uninformed to believe Virginia Key, surrounding waters and the environment were abused. The Miami Marine Stadium Park and Basin were in fact closely monitored by the city of Miami Marine Patrol and environmental agencies to ensure all was properly cared for.

The excitement for 2017 and beyond is enthusiastic and I know the improvements in transportation and parking by the boat show are forthcoming.
