Keeping Christy Daly

Paula Dockery’s Jan. 5 column, For Rick Scott, a second start, a second chance, mentions the governor’s decision to keep Christy Daly as Florida Department of Juvenile Justice secretary.

I couldn’t agree more with this decision.

Before the DJJ, Daly worked for nonprofits helping at-risk, underserved youth locally and statewide. She has been an advocate for Florida’s youth from the start.

As Florida Network president and CEO, I’ve worked closely with Dalyat the DJJ, where she served as chief of staff, deputy secretary and interim secretary. She has been an invaluable leader, greatly contributing to new programs and sustaining initiatives.

There’s no better choice than Daly to uphold the legacy left by former Secretary Wansley Walters. With Daly at the helm, we’re confident that the DJJ will continue to ensure that youth have every opportunity to realize their full potential.
