A sitting U.S. president visiting Cuba after half a century of a political stalemate is a miracle that I am so happy to be alive to witness.
As a Cuban American who has fought for this day for more than two decades, I applaud President Obama for his courage and wisdom. He understands that the path to reconciliation, normalization and trust can only be achieved through engagement.
More than 11 million Cubans inside the island will welcome him with open arms, and the vast majority of Cubans residing abroad will applaud the moment.
Wherever we Cubans reside, we must take this opportunity to walk the road less traveled together for the good of our country of birth and for the well being of future generations of Cubans.
