Allison Park spared

Re the Feb. 13 article Commissioners: Build wellness center elsewhere: No, attorney Michael Llorente, we did not make this “unnecessarily adversarial.”

Our conversations may have been heated at the beginning of the meeting, and rightly so, for it was the reaction of finding out without notice and on the eve of the second reading that Miami Beach’s mayor and commissioners were going to give away our beautiful park to a private entity for an $18-a-year, 99-year lease.

It was a wonderful experience to see the neighborhood come together and work tirelessly to convince commissioners to save Allison Park, and we did that without being adversarial but by being firm.
