Re Richard Hull’s Feb. 12 letter, Beach charrette: Hull, president of the Normandy Shores Homeowners Association, says that, “There are some who prefer not to see any type of development whatsoever in North Beach.”
However, no one who opposed the referendum measure last November was opposed to development. What was opposed was a grossly out-of-scale development that wasn’t in keeping with the nature of the surrounding neighborhood.
That measure was defeated 55 percent to 45 percent. Those who opposed it were not the recalcitrant, reactionary Neanderthals whom Hull seems to see standing behind the winning side of the debate. Rather the majority are fed up with the threat of losing control of our neighborhood, beach access, walkability and our North Beach way of life.
