Clean-power fight

Re the Feb. 9 article Supreme Court puts Obama’s Clean Power Plan on hold: The Supreme Court sided with polluters and their allies by delaying the Clean Power Plan — the centerpiece of the United States’ strategy to tackle climate change that is supported by the majority of Floridians.

The ruling is an outrageous setback for clean air and climate action, especially considering that climate change’s worst impacts — from rising sea level to ocean acidification — can’t be delayed.

Environment Florida and our allies will continue to defend the Clean Power Plan in the courts and in Congress. We’re confident that, ultimately, the majority and the science will prevail. But we’ll also keep pushing Florida to embrace clean power because no matter what happens in the Supreme Court, clean power makes sense for our health, environment and future.

Jennifer Rubiello, state director, Environment Florida, St. Petersburg
