Fresh water demand

We need to conserve water in Florida. Higher density living brings high demands for water. It is less important to have residential lawns sucking up public and well water than to ensure we have enough water to use.

We need to do this before it becomes necessary to build desalinization plants. So far, Florida has escaped becoming a victim of oil fracking with its injection of unknown carcinogens into the water table. We depend on pure water for tourism everywhere in this state.

While the risk from one fracking operation may be limited — we don’t know this — risk from a growing number of fracking operations increases. Eventually, fracking will destroy water resources.

Florida is not Dubai. We don’t need desalinization plants — yet.
