PGA-Trump rift
The Jan. 16 column Doral tournament’s future in doubt because of PGA rift with Donald Trump, about the PGA Tour possibly moving the WGC away from Trump National Doral because the tour has an issue with Donald Trump’s rhetoric, is hypocritical. After all, in a few weeks the PGA Tour will visit Palm Springs for the annual tournament that benefits the Clinton Foundation with former President Clinton serving as the host.
The PGA Tour obviously doesn’t have a problem with doing business with Clinton, who was impeached for lying under oath to a federal grand jury in a sexual-harassment case. The Foundation itself is under a cloud of suspicion for fuzzy bookkeeping.
Furthermore, PGA Tour Commissioner Tim Finchem has never turned down his annual invitation to the Masters, even though for many years Augusta National has been accused of discrimination. Perhaps before the PGA Tour severs ties with Donald Trump it should take a look at all their business partners.
