Leave women alone

Re Fabiola Santiago’s Jan. 27 column, Lawmakers trampling women’s right: If ultra-Republican Florida lawmakers know so much about the Creator, they should also know how long in the history of the Earth sperm have been fertilizing eggs.

Florida has more problems that need to be addressed than what is going on inside a woman’s womb. For example, the Legislature could address flooding from climate change that will eventually bury our beaches. Miami Beach has already experienced rising tides and flooding. Then there’s investing in and the development of alternative forms of clean energy, reducing our dependence on foreign oil.

But no, legislators cannot let the abortion issue go.
