Candidates’ promise
It’s disturbing that the public seems to be taking candidates’ promises at face value. Because nearly all of the recovery’s gains went to the top 1 percent and the bottom got nothing. That’s why Bernie Sanders’ policies seem compelling.
Unfortunately, the president proposes and Congress disposes; so he will need a revolution to succeed. As torches and pitchforks are nowhere evident, it makes little sense to back Sanders. Donald Trump’s equally uncritical supporters similarly don’t seem to care how he will execute his platform. The founders envisioned a republic supported by a thinking populace.
