Taxis vs. Uber

Taxis are tried and true, in business since the 19th century as horse-drawn hansom cabs. Taxis are like the faithful first wife who devoted herself to serving her family, following all the rules and doing what was expected of her. If she wanted to do something else, it was years before “regulators” allowed it. Breaking rules was severally punished.

Uber is the sexy vixen who can’t be bothered with rules. She spins new “disruptive” corporate storylines, and offers a wondrous new app based on updated technology. It attracts rich investors with promises of greater wealth from some future Unicorn IPO.

No one dares to even think of questioning her story or punishing her when she breaks the rules. There is too much money at stake. The hussy promises investors, workers and customers more than they ever knew they wanted. Thrilled, the wannabe “hip” shower her with expensive gifts to please her and get her approval, even if it costs far more than expected.
