Our Gables block party

Our neighborhood recently held a block party in Coral Gables. There is a potential zoning issue that our neighborhood needed to be aware of and take action against, should the time ever come that developers want to encroach on our lovely neighborhood.

However, the block party went way beyond serving that purpose. Besides enjoying a beautiful winter day, we had a wonderful turnout of residents., Most of our city commissioners attended, the fire department sent over a fire truck for kids to experience and there was a police dog present for kids and adults to pet.

In Miami, it’s rare to experience this sense of neighborliness except when people are outdoors picking up after a devastating storm or hurricane. I extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the city personnel who attended, as well as the residents who made this a very special day.

Gordon D. Sokoloff, president, Ponce de Leon Homeowners Group, Coral Gables
