Explain focus on STEM
I would love a journalist to ask this question of Gov. Rick Scott and the rest of Florida’s Republican legislators: Why are they are so gung-ho on STEM degrees, yet deny everything the scientists and engineers say regarding climate change, Everglades restoration and a host of other issues facing this state?
If they don’t even believe what the scientists say, how is a STEM degree more relevant than a liberal-arts degree? We deserve an explanation of the rationale behind these two contradictory views.
