Spreading wealth?
I’m a Democrat. I’m never going to be in the one, two or even the five percent. I have reached my full earning potential by choice. I’m not a Bill Gates, a Steve Jobs, a Wall Street whiz, a film or TV star. Many of the people in the top five percent and up are way more talented than I am.
Should the wealth of America be spread around? Yes and no — through jobs and equal opportunities. I’m sick of hearing it touted as a bad thing that most of the wealth in America belongs to the 1 percent. This is true. But for good reason. Yes, women should have equal pay, everyone should have affordable access to healthcare and we need to provide a livable minimum wage.
But to castigate people for having the talent to be able to make that kind of money is ridiculous. Don’t be incited to riot against those who were able to achieve and exceed their wildest dreams. Work harder.
