Good public servant

It was with great sadness that I read the Jan. 22 article concerning the passing of one of the finest ever to wear the city of Miami blue uniform, Officer Harvey Nairn.

As Miami's Parks Director from late 1988 to April 2003, I had the pleasure of knowing Nairn.

I would see him often over the years as I visited city parks, attended special events and community meetings.

He always had an infectious big smile on his face, no doubt because he felt a tremendous sense of satisfaction in being able to serve the public as a police officer.

Officer Nairn was one of those rare individuals who had a positive impact on every life he touched. He will be sorely missed. May he rest in peace.
