Cuban consulate

Instead of dedicating so much effort into blocking any normalization of relations with the island of Cuba, Miami city officials should start acting like elected officials and come to terms with the fact that a majority of Cuban citizens are in favor of normalizing trade with this impoverished island.

Not allowing trade with Cuba has been a badge of honor worn by some elected officials pandering to old-school, die-hard Cuban exiles who would rather see that island go up in flames. The embargo was a colossal failure; the Castros are just fine living the lives of millionaires who never suffered a day as Cuba’s dictators.

Cuban citizens are the ones who have to live in squalor as a direct result of this failed policy. I ask our elected officials to keep this in mind when voting to spend taxpayer money on resolutions to block consulates so as to show their muscle in fighting the Castro brothers. News flash...the Castro won the battle.
