Motorcycle mayhem

I respect and honor Martin Luther King Jr. for all of the ways he made a difference — in words and deeds rooted in peace.

The way the rabid motorcyclists, dune buggy drivers and other who drove throughout Broward County on Monday was wrong. It did not honor King or his legacy. It abused the meaning behind MLK day. They broke the laws, disrupted traffic, caused delays and disrespected authority by causing such chaos.

I would like to have seen the police stop them in groups — like at the gas stations — and hand out citations for illegal vehicles and other violations.

It angers me to see the police with their hands tied. They should have done something that shows law-abiding citizens that this will not be allowed.
