Mall Metrorail stop
Plans for the proposed American Dream megamall at Florida’s Turnpike and Interstate 75 should require a Metrorail line as a condition for approval.
Anything less is irresponsible in a region where traffic already is at a standstill. Currently we drive west to the turnpike from Coral Gables in order to go north because of the traffic congestion to the east on I-95.
Placing a 200-acre shopping and entertainment mall — the largest in the nation — at the turnpike and I-75 will essentially cut out our only other route north, or south for that matter. Bikes, buses and ride sharing are no longer solutions as they share the same gridlocked roads. We must expand Metrorail in a meaningful way in South Florida. And we best get a move on!
