Mental-health stand
After President Obama’s emotional address to the nation, the question must be asked: What are Marco Rubio and Jeb Bush’s positions on mental illness?
The answer is quite clear.
In 2003, Rubio and Bush constructively drafted and voted to overhaul the mental-illness prerequisites for Floridians seriously injured in the workplace.
Florida Statute 440.093 (2003) eliminated a seriously injured Floridian, whether it be rape to quadriplegia, from receiving psychiatric care for mental illness.
Floridians were bore the burden of proving that their mental illness resulted from the traumatic event or accident, and the law limits the person’s right to receive treatment for mental-illness recovery to six months.
In recent town hall meetings and interviews, both Rubio and Bush have lied about their ambitions to support treatment for mental illness, because their records tell different story.
Everytime they speak about supporting treatment for mental illness and support for background checks, the facts prove otherwise. They have worked tirelessly to put guns into the hands of mentally ill people by preventing them from being diagnosed and treated in the first place.
