Cruz is ineligible
For once, Donald Trump raises a legitimate point: Ted Cruz is ineligible to be president.
The U.S. Constitution requires that a person be a “natural-born U.S. citizen.” Cruz was born in Canada. His mother was a U.S. citizen, and his father was not. Clearly under the definition of natural-born citizen, Cruz doesn’t qualify.
Moreover, the Citizenship Act that bestowed citizenship upon Cruz by virtue of his mother being a citizen is only a benefit that cannot override the constitutional requirement.
