Job statistics

I read with interest Mike Viola’s Jan. 5 letter regarding his take on the wonderful job that President Obama has done to decrease unemployment in America.

However, I would like ask Viola to explain how the administration’s claim that unemployment is at 5.1 percent while companies continue to move out of the United Sates and/or lay off employees by the thousands while immigrants by the thousands pour into the country with no jobs or no real promise of getting such.

Could it be that the Obama bunch considers welfare and other handouts as actual employment thus reducing the unemployment numbers Viola raves about?
