Letter by Kafka?

Re the Dec. 31 letter Voter signature update confusing: Kudos to attorney Amaury Cruz for his lucid description of the most perplex and confounding letter mailed by the Miami-Dade Elections Department requesting signature updates from voters who use absentee ballots.

If the intent was to have voters simply update their signature, an understandable request, two sentences would have sufficed. But somehow simplicity fell victim to a Kafkaesque effort to explain the process.

This poorly phrased letter will either result in 1) immediate trashing, or 2) illogical and incomplete responses, both making the Elections Department’s efforts useless.

I’m reminded of that old adage attributed to our grandmothers: “I write you this long letter as I didn’t have time to write you a short one.”
