A sour note
Re Henry Miller’s Dec. 28 opinion article, We have the scientific juice to save citrus: It appears that he is all for federal financial support of the citrus industry in its fight to prevent citrus tree diseases and in the development of citrus fruit trees that are disease resistant.
Coming from the Hoover Institute, which classifies federal aid to people as socialism, anti-free-enterprise and anti-American by its own definition, this is amazing.
It is another example of its hypocrisy.
The Hoover Institute opposed the Affordable Care Act and supports the privatization of Social Security and Medicare. Why? Because they are socialistic. However, federal aid to the citrus industry is OK — which is as it should be.
It seems as if the Hoover Institute believes that the health of an orange is more important than the health of an American citizen when it comes to healthcare.
And, that policy, folks, is a real lemon.
