No change in Cuba
In Dec. 21 article Miami business leaders impressed by Cuba’s changes, Mike Fernandez is quoted as saying, “Let’s give something else a chance. Nothing else has worked up to now.”
The analysis for this apparent Hail Mary ignores that nothing will work to help the Cuban people in the future as long as the Castro tyranny remains in power. And this tyranny will remain in power indefinitely with the infusion of tourist dollars and American loans that these renewed contacts seek to bring.
Meanwhile, Cuban dissident women get beaten up in public view, and the military continues to control more than 80 percent of the Cuban economy.
