FIU honors student

The Dec. 15 article, Man shot in the head beats odds, graduates from FIU, was inspiring to read and reveals another way in which FIU is an exemplary university with a great deal of heart.

I agree with FIU President Mark Rosenberg that students who overcome such incredible odds deserve to be honored. Such stories of triumph are inspiring for us all. Kudos to Rosenberg for recognizing such students with its Worlds Ahead Award. I am so proud to have such a fine university in our community.
