The community was proud to host Art Basel, a world-class event. Our county and the cities also host the Miami International Boat Show, the Miami Open tennis tournament in Key Biscayne and other events that make us proud. Who knows? Maybe we’ll host the Super Bowl again. We are also home to major museums and a beautiful arena on Biscayne Boulevard.
However, government seems to have overlooked providing basic services to residents like street maintenance and pothole repairs. This became evident during the recent torrential rains. Large potholes are major hazards to drivers and they make us look more like a Third World city.
Perhaps before investing in more new venues for visitors, we should invest in making our streets safe for our residents.
